1973 Chilean coup d’état. There is a fascinating three-part documentary for those interested, titled “The Battle of Chile” directed by Patricio Guzmán (originally in Spanish, titled “La batalla de Chile”). The war was filmed, and near the end of Part One there is a scene in which a soldier shoots to the camera. The camera then falls to the ground, spinning skyward. In reality, cameraman Leonardo Henrichsen, who had been recording footage of what was happening on the streets, was shot and killed on the spot. This scene can be found on Youtube.
